Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) published an updated mid-year report on the status of Florida panthers. The report includes information on new litters, deaths and depredations. Previous years’ statistics are also included in the report.
The FWC notes that a recently rescued Florida panther that was struck by a car in Collier County did not survive, despite efforts to save him. A necropsy showed the panther had significant internal injuries in addition to a bruised lung and an injury to his hip bone.
