On March 21st the FWC collected the remains of a 9-10 year old male at Golden Gate Estates and Rock Road in Collier County. The cause of death is unknown.
On April 3rd the FWC collected the remains of a 3 year old female on SR82 just west of the Corkscrew Road junction. The cause of death was vehicle collision.
Florida Panther statistics for 2018:
Fourteen panther deaths were documented in 2018 consisting of: six males and eight females. Of the fourteen deaths, three were less than six months old. Twelve deaths were caused by vehicles, and two deaths reported as unknown.
Help with panther research by reporting sightings to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
The FWC is asking the public to assist with Florida panther research and management by reporting sightings of the large feline to the agency’s panther sightings webpage.
The FWC is interested in photos of panthers or their tracks. Anyone lucky enough to capture this large cat on camera is encouraged to submit the picture and sighting location to: MyFWC.com/PantherSightings.
